Aqara Neo Smart Water Valve NAS-WV02W - Setup Guide
Tools required:
- Adjustable spanner or pipe wrench
- PTFE (plumber's) tape
- Screwdriver (for mounting bracket, if used)
- Bucket and cloths (to catch residual water)
- 6 × AA batteries or the compatible DC 8.4V adapter (sold separately)
- Smartphone or tablet (iOS or Android)
Applications required:
- Aqara Home app (available on the Apple App Store and Google Play)
- Optional: Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or Apple Home app for voice control and cross-platform automations
Before you begin:
- Confirm you have an Aqara Zigbee hub already set up and online in the Aqara Home app. The Neo Smart Water Valve requires a compatible Aqara hub for connectivity.
- Check that your pipework is DN20 (¾ inch) and that the operating pressure falls within 0.02-1.0 MPa.
- Ensure the installation location stays within the 0-55°C operating temperature range and is indoors.
- Professional installation by a qualified plumber is recommended when integrating the valve into a mains water supply.
Step 1 - Prepare the valve:
- Unbox the valve and check the contents: valve unit, mounting bracket and fixings, and installation guide.
- Open the battery compartment and insert 6 × AA batteries, observing correct polarity. Alternatively, connect the DC 8.4V adapter (sold separately).
- Power up briefly to confirm the status LED illuminates, then power down again before plumbing installation.
Step 2 - Isolate the water supply:
- Turn off the mains water supply at the stopcock.
- Open a downstream tap to release residual pressure and drain water from the section of pipe you will be working on.
- Place a bucket and cloths beneath the work area.
Step 3 - Install the valve into the pipework:
- Fit the valve inline with the pipe run, ensuring the flow arrow on the valve body points in the direction of water flow.
- Apply PTFE tape to the male threads and hand-tighten the fittings.
- Use an adjustable spanner or pipe wrench to secure the connections. Do not over-tighten - snug plus a small further turn is usually sufficient.
- If required, attach the supplied mounting bracket to secure the valve body and reduce strain on the pipework.
Step 4 - Restore water and check for leaks:
- Slowly reopen the mains stopcock.
- Inspect all joints for leaks. Tighten further or reseal with PTFE tape if any weeping is observed.
- Operate the manual override (if applicable) to confirm the valve opens and closes smoothly.
Step 5 - Pair with the Aqara Hub:
- Open the Aqara Home app and sign in.
- Ensure your Aqara hub is online and select it from the device list.
- Tap Add Subdevice (or the + icon) and choose Water Valve Controller from the device categories.
- Follow the on-screen prompt to press and hold the pairing button on the valve for approximately 5 seconds, until the LED flashes to indicate pairing mode.
- Wait for the app to detect the valve. Assign a name (e.g. Kitchen Water Valve) and a room.
Step 6 - Test remote control:
- From the device screen in the Aqara Home app, tap the on/off control to open and close the valve.
- Listen for the motor and confirm the water flow starts and stops as expected at a downstream tap.
Step 7 - Configure automations (optional):
- In the Aqara Home app, go to Automation and create rules such as scheduled shut-off times or trigger-based closure when a paired Aqara water leak sensor detects moisture.
- Set up notifications so you receive alerts on your phone when the valve state changes.
Step 8 - Link to third-party ecosystems (optional):
- In the Aqara Home app, open Settings and select Third-party Integrations.
- Link your Aqara account to Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or Apple HomeKit as required.
- Once linked, use voice commands or cross-platform routines to control the valve.
Maintenance tips:
- Check battery level periodically in the Aqara Home app and replace all 6 AA batteries at once when low.
- Cycle the valve open and closed occasionally (e.g. monthly) to prevent seizing.
- Inspect fittings for leaks at regular intervals.
Note: This product is a low-voltage, battery/DC-powered device and does not involve mains electrical wiring. However, if integrating with any mains-powered accessories or adapters, ensure they are installed in accordance with local electrical regulations.
