Govee Smart PC Light Bars

  • Tools required:
    • Microfibre cloth and isopropyl-alcohol wipe (for surface cleaning)
    • Measuring tape or ruler and a pencil or low-tack painter's tape (for alignment)
    • Small flat surface to lay out the strips while positioning
    • Smartphone or tablet with Bluetooth (for app setup)
  • Applications:
    • Govee App (iOS or Android) — required for initial setup and customisation
    • Alexa app and/or Google Home app — optional, only if you want voice control or smart-home integration
  • Unpack and check contents: remove the light bars and any mounting accessories supplied. Keep the manufacturer quick-start guide for device-specific details.
  • Confirm capabilities and connectivity: the product provides adjustable colour and brightness, multiple lighting modes and scenes and is designed for ambient/bias lighting of monitors and PC cases. Connectivity is via Bluetooth and a manual dial (where present). Compatibility with the Govee App, Alexa and Google Home is specified.
  • Plan placement: decide whether each bar will mount to the back or side of a monitor or inside/on a PC case. Measure the length and spacing so the light bars do not obstruct vents, ports or moving parts. Use painter's tape to mark positions before fixing.
  • Prepare mounting surfaces: switch off and unplug any nearby power sources for safety. Clean the mounting area with an isopropyl wipe and allow to dry. Test a small, inconspicuous area if unsure about adhesives affecting finishes.
  • Attach the light bars: follow the supplied attachment method. Align each bar with your marks and press firmly if adhesive pads are provided, or secure with the supplied clips/brackets if included. Ensure bars are secure and not pulling on any cables.
  • Power and physical controls: connect the light bars to their power source according to the manufacturer instructions. If a manual dial is present, confirm its position (on/off, brightness) and test basic operation using the dial before app pairing.
  • Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone or tablet: open device settings and turn on Bluetooth so the Govee App can detect the lights during pairing.
  • Install the Govee App and add the device:
    • Open the Govee App and create or sign in to your Govee account.
    • In the app select Add Device and choose the appropriate product type. Follow the on-screen prompts to allow Bluetooth permissions and to put the light bars into pairing mode (refer to the included quick-start if specific pairing steps are required).
    • When the app detects the light bars, confirm and complete the pairing. Allow any firmware update prompts to finish fully before customising settings.
  • Configure basic settings:
    • Use the app to set colour, brightness and select lighting modes or scenes. Save frequently used scenes to the app for quick recall.
    • If using the manual dial, verify how it interacts with app settings (some models let the dial adjust brightness while the app controls colour or mode).
  • Integrate with voice assistants (optional):
    • For Alexa: open the Alexa app, enable the Govee skill, and follow instructions to link your Govee account. Discover devices in Alexa to add the light bars.
    • For Google Home: open Google Home, add a service, choose Govee and link your account. Assign the lights to rooms if desired.
  • Fine-tune placement and calibration: from the app, adjust brightness and colour temperature to reduce eye strain and to provide effective bias lighting behind the monitor. Move or re-position bars if shadows or hotspots appear on the screen.
  • Troubleshooting tips:
    • If the lights do not appear in the app, ensure Bluetooth is enabled, the bars have power and are in pairing mode. Restart the app and the light bars and retry pairing.
    • Allow any firmware updates to complete — interrupted updates can prevent normal operation.

  • Ongoing use and maintenance: avoid covering the bars or blocking ventilation of a PC case. Keep the adhesive and mounting areas clean; replace mounting pads or reposition if adhesion weakens.
